The analyst also pointed to Fields’ work ethic and leadership skills as reasons for his high expectations. “I think he’s a guy that’s going to come in and immediately change the culture of the Chicago Bears,” Spears said. “He’s going to be a guy that’s going to work extremely hard, he’s going to be a guy that’s going to hold his teammates accountable, and I think he’s going to be a guy that’s going to elevate the play of everyone around him.”
Of course, it’s important to remember that Fields is still a rookie. He will undoubtedly face challenges as he adjusts to the NFL game and learns the intricacies of the Bears’ offense. But Spears believes that Fields is up to the challenge.
“He’s a guy that has already shown that he can handle adversity,” Spears said. “He’s a guy that’s led Ohio State to the College Football Playoff, he’s a guy that’s played in big games, and he’s a guy that’s already faced criticism and come out on the other side of it. So I have huge expectations for Justin Fields.”
Only time will tell if Fields lives up to those expectations, but it’s clear that he has a lot of supporters in the NFL world. With Spears and others singing his praises, it’s clear that Fields is a player to watch in the coming season and beyond.
