Antonio Senzatela goes on IL with elbow injury: How the Rockies adjust their rotation

The Colorado Rockies are faced with a major setback as Antonio Senzatela has gone on the injured list due to an elbow injury. This is a significant blow to the Rockies’ rotation as Senzatela has been one of their most reliable starters this season. With his absence, the Rockies must adjust their rotation to try and pick up the slack.

Senzatela has posted a 1-3 record with a 5.97 ERA in his last five games. Over the course of the season, he has accumulated a 2-9 record with a 4.58 ERA through 18 appearances (17 starts), amassing 88 strikeouts through 94 innings pitched.

The Rockies will have to rely on other pitchers to fill the void left by Senzatela’s injury. One option is Jon Gray, who has been the Rockies’ best starter this season with a 7-6 record and 3.62 ERA in 18 starts. Gray has been getting better with each start and has been particularly dominant at Coors Field, where he’s 6-2 with a 3.38 ERA.

Another option is German Marquez, who has a record of 8-7 with a 3.50 ERA in 19 starts. Marquez has been one of the Rockies’ most consistent and dependable pitchers, and he could be relied upon to provide quality innings as the Rockies look to overcome the loss of Senzatela.

The Rockies could also look at Chi Chi Gonzalez, who has a 4-6 record with a 5.97 ERA in 14 starts this season. While his numbers aren’t great, Gonzalez has shown flashes of potential and could be given more opportunities to prove himself now that Senzatela is out of the rotation.

Overall, the Rockies have some tough decisions to make as they try to adjust their rotation without Senzatela. Gray and Marquez have proven themselves to be reliable, but some of the other options may still need to show what they can do. Either way, it will be up to the entire pitching staff to pull together and help the Rockies keep pace in the NL West race.
